Dan Knecht, a resident on the city’s west side, was unanimously selected to take the Council-At-Large III seat vacated by Dave Fiebig when he resigned late last month. Councilwoman Nancy Fellows nominated Knecht and Councilwoman Janet Majka seconded the nomination. Knecht has been the Public Service Director in Euclid for 14 years and it is hoped he will provide expertise in sewers, roads and infrastructure matters.
Council next meets this Friday, February 21, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. for a Special Council Meeting to consider three ordinances. The first is to establish a salary range for the position of Assistant Finance Director of $50,000 – $65,000 per year.
The second is to do away with several committees of Council, including Safety, Service, Recreation, Planning and Zoning, Utilities and the Personnel Relations Committee, which considers matters like salaries and benefits of city employees, and was the only committee that allowed resident members.
The third ordinance would engage lawyer Michael C. Lucas as Law Director along with three other lawyers to serve as Assistant Law Directors, Stephanie E. Landgraf, Daniel F. Richards and Thomas G. Lobe. Lobe previously served as Willoughby Hills Law Director twice and was fired in 2007, rehired in 2008, and then resigned in 2017.
